FYI on the Egg Problem
The massive salmonella outbreak associated with eggs is very real and potentially more far reaching than has yet been reported. In case you don't already know, certain markets DO carry pasteurized eggs that have been "flash heated" at a high temperature to eradicate any bacterium. Pasteurized eggs are approximately three times costlier than regular eggs, but it is a relatively small price to pay to avoid a foodborne illness.

The massive salmonella outbreak was the result of only two industrial egg factories with a history of terrible conditions doing what comes naturally ... making money. i've been in one of those egg factories (Egg City in LA) and it is disgusting ... the smell, air thick with feathers and feces with miles of chickens stacked on top of each other. yuck!
ReplyDeleteit seems to me if we buy local & know the farmer we will be much safer.
lesson for the day: don't put all your eggs in one, or this case, two baskets.
